It’s always so much fun getting to see the world and trying out new styles inspired by the local trends, but apparently you have to do this thing called work, and they won’t let you just go off on holiday whenever you want. So until we can have the opportunity to jet off to somewhere exotic, we’ve been thinking about some dream destinations. There’s so much to see in the world that it’s difficult to come up with a shortlist, but for the summer it would be great to go somewhere super fashionable and suave. So here are a few stylish destinations to visit now that have a touch of je ne sais quoi about them.
St Tropez, France
France will always have a special place in our heart. And while Paris is the chic city for urban flair, St Tropez (not the tanning lotion) is the place to be in the south. Anyone who wants sun, sea, sand and maybe a bit of celebrity-spotting should head down to Provence and spend some time in Saint-Tropez. There’s history, panoramic sea views, modern art, and not to mention hotels and villas that allow you to experience luxury in true French style. Plus, there’s lots of opportunity for shopping, from food to fashion. St Tropez is packed full of chic boutiques, so anyone who loves clothes and accessories will never want to leave.
Havana, Cuba
Anyone who loves vintage fashion would feel drawn to Cuba and Havana, in particular. Who wouldn’t want to hop into a 1950s model car and drive around, wearing a headscarf and with the wind in their hair? Of course, it’s bound to be hot in the summer, so it would be a great chance to wear all kinds of floaty and light clothes to keep myself cool. There’s plenty of colour too, so you wouldn’t have to be shy about wearing a bright wardrobe. And, of course, there’s the charming architecture, the food, music and the people. It’s a bit further away than France, but I think the journey would be worth it.
Tokyo, Japan
Sometimes you have to give yourself a bit of a culture shock to see another part of the world. Tokyo looks huge and overwhelming, but in a way that would be endlessly fascinating. And if you wanted to see a different side to fashion, Japan is the place to see it. As well as traditional dress and more “Western” clothes, there are lots of different subcultures in Japan that have their own styles. Some of them certainly aren’t the kind of thing you could wear in the office, but they would give you a different perspective on what’s hot and what not, that’s for sure. And, asides from the eclectic fashion, there’s also food, history and culture to explore.
Maybe we’ll get to one of these places soon, and you’ll hear all about my adventures. But for now, I guess we’ll stick to fantasizing…
