The 5 Workouts You Need to Try Now

Staying fit while looking ‘on point’ is the goal of many females these days, including us. One thing that puts women off getting active is the thought that they have to spend hours on the treadmill, but that really isn’t the case. There are countless ways to get active and have fun at the same time. After all, we are true believers that working out doesn’t have to be a chore, but can be something you enjoy! Below are 5 of our favourite workouts to get you looking and feeling great. Oh yeah, and having fun too!

Yoga

Yoga might not be as intense as other exercises, but it definitely works your muscles hard until you break out a sweat. You’ll focus on flexibility, strength and breathing while in challenging and wonderful positions, helping to define your muscles. Breathing is as important as the skill in yoga, which can also help to clear your mind and allow you to de-stress. Yoga is a great way to get in touch with your body and the world around you.

Power Walking

Power walking is thought to burn more fat than running. Seriously! While running can burn a lot of calories, once you stop you’ll stop burning them. With power walking, you should continue to burn calories and fat long after you stop. The great thing about power walking is that it is just as beneficial as running, for those who aren’t in perfect health or capable of running long distances.

Boxing

Boxing happens to be our new favourite workout. Do you love the films ‘Rocky’ and ‘Million Dollar Baby’? Then, you will love this! You’ll train just like a real boxing champion with exercises such as skipping, body weights, and sparing while challenging yourself with some serious jabs and shuffles. You will sweat let me tell you! Boxers are some of the fittest people in the world, so you can’t go wrong by training like them. Not only will it define your muscles, it’s a great fat blaster too.

Biking

Biking can be a lot of fun, whether you’re biking through the woods on rough terrain or just biking to work instead of driving or taking public transport. There are plenty of cool bicycles to choose from, so you don’t need to sacrifice any style points at all. It’s great for the environment too, so you can feel smug that you’re getting fit, burning calories, and helping out the world. For the cooler Toronto weather, take some spinning classes. It will get your butt and legs feeling tight.  Watch out J-Lo!

Boot Camp

If you feel like you’re in serious need of a shape up, plenty of women choose a boot camp they like the sound of to get it done as fast as possible. While there are no quick fixes, the best boot camps should give you great advice on what you should be eating, as well as training you up to a high standard. You’ll do exercises like kettlebell swings, planks, press ups, and more. Every day you’ll aim to improve your technique as well as  your strength and speed. Some boot camps are held outdoors, which can be even more beneficial as we naturally burn more outdoors. These classes are great to join with a friend to keep you motivated!
