Stop Putting These Important Things Off
Life is busy, and we never seem to reach the end of our to-do lists! However, you should stop putting off these four things today. You won’t regret it.
Seeing the Doctor about a niggling illness
“No, I’m fine!, “I’ll go next week!” and “I’m sure it’s nothing!” These are things many of us are tempted to say if we have a niggling illness and I can totally attest to this. However, it is critical to not ignore these things. It could very well be nothing, and it most likely is, but if there is a problem, it will be much easier to treat or remedy the sooner it is discovered. As I write this I am reminded that I need to go for a checkup, so that’s exactly what I’ll be doing later today!
Sorting your credit score
Even if you don’t want to buy a house, a car or another very costly item today, chances are you’ll want to in the future. To do so, you’ll most likely have to borrow money. And to do this, the lenders will need to be able to trust you. The way that they decide whether or not you are reliable enough will depend on your credit rating.
If you have a poor, or lower than average, credit rating, this is not something you will be able to sort in a matter of days. In fact, it can take years to improve your rating. There are some quick fixes, as this article over at money.usnews.com explains. It’s a slow and complicated process, and different lenders look at different things. The state of your accounts and earnings does play a part, but so can seemingly insignificant things, like how often you go to the cinema, or how often you have moved house in recent years. Even if you are planning to move out and rent, most landlords need a credit score like I had to prepare for my recent move, so it helps to be ontop of things like this!
Having laser eye surgery
Perhaps you have been considering having laser eye surgery for a while now; until you’re a bit older. You can find out more info over on sites like LaserEyeSurgeryHub.co.uk, but, for starters, it’s handy to know that having it done when you it is possible is a good idea. This is because younger eyes heal and stabilise faster than older eyes. The younger the person, the less likely they are to have negative side effects. Plus, any side effects they do have are likely to be less severe. It also makes financial sense; the sooner you get them sorted, the more years usage you’ll get out of your new and improved vision! Now, if only I can get my sister to read this!
Saving for your pension
Old age may seem very far away right now, but, as the old and wise among us often say, it comes around faster than you might think. It is widely advised that everyone should start saving for their pension as soon as possible. This is partly because the more you can save, the more comfortable you will be in the future. However, it also protects you if something happens in the future that stops you from working which is why my love has set up a savings account for his pension through his job so that we can both be covered in the future. This could be time off for having a child, or something far more negative, like being made redundant. Saving for your pension now means that if at any point in your life you can’t work, you know you already have some funds stored away and protected. There’s a great article on everything you need to know over at moneysavingexpert.com.
