5 Ways To Dazzle Your Wedding Guests At Your Reception

Your big day is about many things. First and foremost it’s about making a commitment to the person you want to spend your life with. It’s about standing up in front of your closest family and friends and making a declaration of love. It’s also about the message you’re sending to your guests. You’re telling them that they are important to you, and that you want them to be present on one of the most important days of your life.

The wedding reception is a joyous occasion. The formalities of the day are over and you can get on with celebrating and having fun. Whether you have planned a large wedding or a small one, there are lots of ways to show your guests they are appreciated.

  1. Greeting Your Guests

When your guests arrive at the reception venue, there are many ways you can greet them. If the bridal party has not yet arrived, champagne is traditionally served while they wait. One way of spoiling your guests is to provide them with a gift bag. This could be a survival kit for the night and include things like tissues, disposable cameras, photos, etc.

Once the bridal party is present, the tradition is to create a receiving line. The bride’s mother is usually the first person to greet guests. Make this as personal as possible by providing the party with as much information as possible about guests.

An alternative to the receiving line is to have the bride and groom sitting informally. Guests can then go over and chat to them. This is less formal and more intimate than the receiving line and offers more time to talk.

  1. Including Everyone

Make sure that everyone receives a warm welcome. Introduce them to the key members of the wedding party. Ask groomsmen and maids of honor to keep a lookout for anyone who is by themselves or looks isolated. Ask them to involve everyone in the celebrations.

Not all guests are present at all of the wedding events. For example, not everyone will attend the bachelor and bachelorette party. Make them feel included by displaying photos.

  1. Entertain

Sometimes there are periods of time where guests are waiting. For example, when the wedding photos are taking place or when they are awaiting the bride and groom. Consider providing entertainment such as a magician, or a photo booth.

  1. Create Zones

Weddings are long events. They often last all day and into the night. This can be tiring, especially if guests have travelled long distances. Set up different zones at your venue as well as the main dance floor and provide areas where guests can sit and talk quietly. This will be appreciated, especially by older guests and families with young children.

  1. Children

If you have several children attending your wedding day, make sure they have enough to occupy them. Consider hiring a registered childminder to look after and entertain them. Provide fun games and activities. Candy bars are popular with younger guests.

Though weddings tend to be long events, it all seems to pass so quickly. Make sure you include everyone in your celebrations. Try and speak to every guest and thank them for attending. Add a few surprises for them throughout the night, to let them know they are valued.
