5 Ways to Get Summer Ready
Can you believe that its’ May already? While I’m glad the warmer weather is finally here, I can’t help but feel like beach weather will be here before we know it, so I’m trying my best to prepare for the hot season as best I can!
As the warmer weather approaches, I usually work towards putting together a beauty regime that will have me feeling confident for the season so I can show off more skin, strut around in my bathing suits and keep my nails looking perfect so I can wear my favourite sandals.
It’s only 5 steps, but these simple tips will help take you from winter hibernation to glowing for the summer!
Drink Loads of Water
Drinking lots of water is important during all months of the year, but I find that the summer heat can really take a toll on your skin and hair, so keeping hydrated is essential.
Rather than going for a tea or sugar-based beverage, keeping hydrated with water will do wonders for not only your physical attributes, but also it will be amazing for your metabolism as well. Of course when the warm weather hits we are out in the sun and being active, so make sure you are enjoying enough water to keep you hydrated and happy!
Get Your Daily Exercise
I am not even talking about achieving a “beach bod” like so many mention, but once the warm weather comes around, I always love getting outside to do something active. I’ve been getting together with friends to play some baseball and my family to play a quick game of tennis and I love how it’s been making me feel.
Of course I get my workouts in, but I find that these fun activities are keeping me on my toes while allowing me to have fun while I do it rather then feeling like working out is a chore! The best part is that I have all this energy that I didn’t know I had!
Remove Unwanted Hair
Removing unwanted hair is numero-uno for me once the summer season is on its way! As most of us see the winter months as the perfect time to hibernate, when the spring and summer months roll around, we know that its time to shed the hair and let our skin glow.
This spring, rather than shaving, I am opting for my favourite Nair Wax Ready-Strips and Nair Nourish Crème to help remove all that unwanted hair. While I save the waxing for my lower legs and arms, I prefer to go with Nair’s latest Nourish Crème for Face for that pesky facial hair that I prefer to keep clear and moisturized! The Nourish Crème for face is a swirl formula with Grape Seed Oil and antioxidant-rich Resveratrol, which allows me to remove hair in just three minutes while moisturizing my skin so I can keep that summertime glow! I actually find that when I use the Nourish Crème for face, my hair takes longer to grow back and can easily be taken care of when in a rush!
My favourite part about the Nourish Crème Line however is that it works on very short hair, so when you’re in a rush, you can still clear your skin of unwanted hair from the comfort of your own home. The Nair Nourish Crème for Legs & Body has been a savior for me even just in the last few days. We’ve had moody weather in Toronto as of late so when I noticed the weather was going to be hot-hot-hot the next day, I turned to the Nourish Crème to get my legs smooth and hair free in just a few minutes!
As I mentioned, I also prefer to use Nair Wax Ready Strips for my arms and legs, and that’s because they are so incredibly easy to use and really do the trick. The formula is suitable for sensitive skin and effortlessly works on different parts of the body so you can easily give yourself an at home wax session with little fuss! Designed to give salon results, all it takes is simply rubbing the strips between your hands to heat the wax, peel the strips, place on your skin and with one swift motion, your hair is gone!
Once the unwanted hair is removed, I’m immediately ready for my short skirts and swimsuits!
Get Yourself a New Do
I always like to go for lighter locks when the spring season rolls around. When the warm weather hits, my tan gets a little darker, so I find a nice brighter hair change really does the trick! Whether you are switching up the colour of your hair or you are thinking that it’s time for a chop, I suggest giving yourself a little hair change to give you a boost of confidence and new look before the summer season arrives!
I am currently in the process of going a tad lighter for the season and I have already visited my friends at Sassoon Toronto for a lighter hair change. Since my hair is already so dark I am hoping to get a few shades lighter without damaging my locks so of course, the best way to do that is slowly without shocking your locks.
With the hot sun, it’s easy for your locks to get damaged and your blonde to go brassy so opt for hair treatments to give you the shade you desire!
Get Your Nails Done
The spring and summer season means that open toe shoes and sandals are on heavy rotation. While I may prefer to spoil myself with manicures and pedicures throughout the year, when the warm weather hits, I believe every gal (and even guys) should visit their local nail salon to get their nails and feet looking perfect.
It’s also the best time to try some new colours on your nails or opt for a design to mark the warm weather occasion! I have three shades that have been on heavy rotation and all are from my favourite, Essie! You really can’t go wrong with my Ballet Nudes Collection picks, ‘At the Barre’ and ‘Lace Me Up’ from Essie as well as the stunning metallic ‘To Have and To Hold’ from their latest Bridal collection.
Think of it now, pretty nails, hair healthy and beautiful skin thanks to Nair, and you are set for the hot summer season!
