6 Ways To Treat Your Feet
Girls, our feet put up with a lot of pain. We force them into high heels, and we hike them across the city every day. They deserve better! When we think about treating ourselves, we usually think of a massage, a night out with the girls, or quiet night in. But, what about treating your feet? It’s time to give something back, and send some of that love to our toes! Today, we’re looking at all the good things you can do for your feet. We’ll help you keep them in good condition, and looking fantastic.
It all starts with hygiene
Our feet are often the dirtiest place on our bodies. They get sweaty quickly (fun fact: there are 250,000 sweat glands on each foot!). That means you need to get stuck in with the soap and bathing. Give them a thorough clean every time you shower. Get right between the toes, and clean them thoroughly. After that, try to keep your toes fresh and dry as much as possible. Cut your toenails regularly too.
Pedicure
If your feet have been suffering in pointy high heels, treat them to a pedicure. Give them a makeover, and bring them back to full health. A good pedicure will help remove dead skin, and moisturize the dry areas. Your pedicurist will also treat your toenails to some nail polish, and give them a splash of colour. From a hygienic and health perspective, a pedicure will also clean your feet thoroughly, and help prevent problems.
Massage
Not everyone likes having their feet touched, but for those that do, a foot massage is like heaven! They’re available at all spas and massage parlours, and you’re bound to find one close to you. There’s nothing quite like the relaxation and pure bliss of a professional massage. Just make sure they don’t tickle you!
Fish pedicure
We’ve already talked about the benefits of a pedicure. But, have you ever tried a fish pedicure? It involved putting your feet into a tank of fish. (Stay with us…) The fish then nibble the dead skin from your feet, and leave you clean and fresh. It sounds weird, but it really works!
Let them out of the high-heels
We all know that high heels are a life-saver. They give us extra height, and make us feel elegant. But, every step is slowly killing your poor feet! At work and on nights out, those high heels are essential. But, take every chance you can to let your feet out. Slip them off while you’re at your desk, and give them plenty of room to breathe when you come home from work. It lets the air dry them out, and avoids long-term damage and pain. You can also save your casual Fridays for more casual footwear, and if you’re like us, this is another excuse to wear your favourite sneakers!
See a specialist if necessary
If your feet are constantly sore and painful, don’t leave it and hope it fades. Visit a foot specialist, and see if there are treatments that will help. They will help decompress trapped nerves, soothe aches, and give your feet a new lease of life. Don’t wait for it to get worse!
Our feet put up with a lot. Let’s give them something back!
