Another Year Older
Just this past Saturday, I celebrated my birthday, and while I spent my weekend with friends, family and food (okay, and cocktails), I did the “blogger thing” and welcomed a new year with a fun shoot with Laura Clarke. As I’m sure you can see from these images, as well as my previous shots and photography, I’m slowly but surely branching out and shooting with some local photographers!
I have gotten quite comfortable shooting with my A-Team which is usually the fiancé or my sister who have been so supportive and have always dealt with my visions and ideas and creating them! The fact of the matter is though that I always seemed to put shooting with others on hold. I felt so comfortable shooting with “my people” because they understood my insecurities and what I didn’t like – and they were also incredibly honest when something didn’t work.
However, shooting with someone new – and a professional at that means that I can just create an idea and be present. No directing, no obsessing, but instead, I can leave the shooting to the photographer, and I can see myself and my “vision” through someone else’s eyes and really, I can also make a new friend in the process!
So this shoot wasn’t just a “birthday shoot”, but it was a reminder to open up more, have some fun, get creative and remember why I started this blog journey in the first place!
