The Bachelorette Season 12 Episode 6 Recap
By Krista Kelly
As we enter a new post-Chad era, the drama is going to start being more romantic – L-bombs will fly, tears will roll and hot tropical nights will fill our screens. In this episode, Jordan and Robbie secure one-on-one dates, tabloid drama about JoJo’s ex surfaces, and 3 men go home.
The episode starts of with Chad’s return, which is honestly pretty uneventful. Following the scattering of his protein powder “ashes”, Chad comes in for his last 10 minutes of air time. Jordan tries to apologize, Chad is not into it, Chad leaves, the guys slam a congratulatory cake in Alex’s face.
Now it’s a time for a classic cocktail party, complete with make-outs (Robby, Luke, and Jordan), jealousy and a lot of wine. JoJo and Chase have a kind of weird zorb date, Robby helps her make a wish in a fountain, and Jordan puts her up against a wall (scandaaaalous).
Time for the rose ceremony, by some miracle Wells survives… he really has to do something soon. Going home this week is Daniel and James F. Daniel proclaims that this competition is obviously not based on looks so his personality must be horrible.
No we’re off to… Uruguay! …
After settling into their hotel, the first date card arrives and it is tense. Jordan wins the one-on-one and everyone is super jelly, even though it’s actually his first. They go on a sexy boat ride and don wetsuits to swim with the seals.
Back at the hotel, the guys are getting their hair cuts at Vinny’s makeshift barbershop. They “just happen” to stumble upon an issue of InTouch magazine in which JoJo’s ex-boyfriend CHAD is claiming that she is still in love with him. Since these guys have never read a celebrity tabloid before, they are genuinely concerned.
Amidst this awkwardness planted by the producers, the group date is announced to include everyone but Robby. Flip back to JoJo and Jordan’s date, she confronts him that she had met one of his ex-girlfriends who said that he was a shitty boyfriend. Jordan defends himself by saying that’s it’s true, and he said it before, he was super into himself at that time in his life. He’s ready now though, and JoJo’s into it.
She gives him the rose and the date ends with some fun loving street dancing to lighten the mood.
Jordan returns to learn about the InTouch drama, that JoJo may still be in love with CHAD.. a different Chad but an amazing coincidence. JoJo finds out after she says in her interview that nothing can bring her down after her amazing date with Jordan… Cue the producers handing her the article and informing her that all the guys read it this morning.
After some crying, sobbing and dramatic hotel walks with no shoes on, JoJo breaks down in front of the guys while wearing a robe and they fight to console her.
To lighten things up, Jordan and Robbie enjoy a spa day and eat cucumbers while the other guys play in the sand.
Sand surfing is pretty dusty, includes a lot of falling, and is thankfully cut short when it starts to rain.
At drinks after, Luke and James are successful, Wells fails to make a move once again, and the guys talk openly about how jealous they are of each other. Derek is particularly jealous, since he had the first one-on-one. He opens up to JoJo about his insecurity, JoJo later announces that she is giving the rose to someone (Derek) who needs validation and the guys are pissed… Especially Alex, now that Chad has left, Derek is his new #1 enemy.
Next up, JoJo and Robbie’s one-on-one date, starting with a romantic watch on the beach followed with “spontaneous” cliff-jumping in water shoes.
At dinner, Robbie confesses that he has something he has to share and JoJo initially looks terrified. He tells the emotional story about he turned his whole life around after a close friend passed away – he ended a toxic relationship, moved cities and started a new job. Now he doesn’t hold anything back, and he tells JoJo that he’s not falling in love with her, he his in love with her. JoJo’s into it, how could you not after that story, and they go for another beach walk under the fireworks.
The episode comes to a close with a cocktail party, starting with Derek awkwardly confronting Alex, Chase and Robbie for being “clique-y” which is not very well received. Then Chris Harrison walks in to announce we are going straight to the rose ceremony, no mini-dates for you.
When we get to the last rose there are 4 left… Evan, Grant, Vinny and Wells. Shocker! The rose goes to Wells! This little radio DJ still has a chance. Grant is especially devastated; he was a major front-runner in the beginning. Evan feels that he has failed himself, and Vinny is just sad.
The preview for next week looks fun! They fly to Argentina, Wells finally makes a move, everyone is falling hard, the guys accuse Jordan of only being in it for the fame, JoJo questions Chase’s lack of facial expressions, and JoJo walks away from a rose ceremony. There is also some verrry dramatic finale footage in which JoJo says that she has found a man that cannot love her in the way she wants to be loved. Stay tuned…
