Balea Chocolate & Fig Shower Gel & Body Lotion

I hate limited edition products. I hate limited edition products that are amazing even more. I especially hate limited edition products that are amazing and only available in a country in which I do not reside.

German drugstore DM carries a line called Balea, not to be confused with the one at Shopper’s Drug Mart stores in Canada. The products are the equivalent of the cheapest, “no name” type products, but of course that doesn’t mean they don’t deliver.

I found this Balea set of “Chocolate & Fig” shower gel and body lotion for about €3,00 (approximately $3.82 CDN). It smells delicious and just like chocolate and fig macaroons. The scent is actually quite strong and stays on the skin but after a little while it calms down. The bad part about it is that I want to eat my arm.

The shower gel and lotion aren’t anything extraordinary but definitely do what they’re supposed to: clean and moisturize.

Everything about these products, to me, is fabulous, aside from the facts stated in the first paragraph. I also can’t say that I love the packaging. I know something like that shouldn’t matter but I am a consumer after all and my impulse purchases are usually based on scent, label, and packaging. For all other purchases I do extensive research, of course (thanks God for MakeupAlley). I love containers to feel sturdy, have a clean and simple, yet luxurious look, and of course to be hygienic I don’t like cheap looking and corny packaging such as this but ultimately, if I don’t bring it out in public, it’s not that big of a deal.

If you want to smell as delicious as a macaroon for pocket change, are lucky enough to reside in a country that has DM drugstores, and don’t mind not being able to repurchase these products once they’re discontinued, then I highly recommend the Balea Chocolate & Fig shower gel and body lotion.
