Bridal Accessories for Your Big Day
When most of us think about our wedding day, we instantly imagine our beautiful wedding dress. It can be easy to forget about all the accessories that go into the complete wedding outfit though. The bridal accessories are key to making the dress the focus of attention. They enhance it and frame it. Most importantly, they dress up the other areas of our bodies, so we are stunningly beautiful from head to toe. Here’s what you need:
Headdress – A tiara is the classical hair piece accessory for a bridal outfit. It’s much like an elaborate hair band that sits in the hair to enhance the bridal hairstyle. Diamonds are the gem of choice, but these days, crystals can look just as glamorous. Height and structure are important with a tiara, which can be worn with an up or down hair style. Wedding tiaras finish off the princess look that is trending right now.
Hair – As an alternative to the tiara, you can wear decorative hair clips in your up-style. Or a beautiful headband adorned with pearls and crystals can be gorgeous too. They can be quite functional to keep your hair in place, as well as to be incredibly glamourous. Loose, draping curls are fashionable for bridal hair, but many girls are choosing to wear their hair down this season. This is particularly popular for those girls who don’t want to wear a veil.
Sash – Many wedding dresses, especially two-piece outfits, lack interest in the middle. This is where a sash can come in handy. You can choose to drape the long ends down the back, but it looks very elegant to have them in the front this season. Choose a coloured band or something silky in white or ivory to add a little interest. Contrasting textures, and a decorative tie look fabulous.
Gloves – Long gloves featuring decorative lace or sheer material are an accessory of choice for many brides. You can choose to have the ring placed over the top, but many like to remove the gloves for this part of the ceremony. This is a little like the removal of the veil but is done by the bride instead.
Garter – This is another accessory steeped in tradition, but it is still fun to use. You might like the idea of borrowing a blue one, but there are some lovely new ones in the bridal boutiques at the moment. Some are even functional so you can stow your phone in there! Don’t worry if they’re not for you. The bridal lingerie is usually enough for most people.
Jewellery – Bridal jewellery is a matter of personal taste. The catwalks this season kept models mostly free from necklaces, rings and earrings. However, pearl drops have always been very popular. For some extra glamour and chic, strands of diamonds look beautiful from the ears and draped down the neck.
Your accessories may be items that have been passed down to you, or you may be shopping for your own tastes. Most of us have an idea of what we would like to wear on our big day, but sometimes you spot something you’ve just got to have. Be beautiful for your big day.
