So you know how every person on the planet wants to look like Jennifer Lawrence and be her best friend? Well now is your chance to get looks inspired by the role that changed her life – Katniss Everdeen.
Trish Summerville, head costume designer for the Hunger Games films created a 19 piece ready-to-wear collection called Capitol Couture for Net-A-Porter inspired by the upcoming sequel Catching Fire which hit theaters this past Friday, November 22nd. The collection features designs such as a metallic laser cut-out dress, silk and leather jumpsuit, leather bomber jackets, arrow themed jewellery and slogan tees. Summerville isn’t a stranger when it comes to creating collections based on films she’s worked on. She also collaborated with H&M on a collection for the film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo back in 2011. It is without doubt that clothing featured in a film creates an overall visual experience of which viewers can understand the time in which the setting takes place and develop a better sense of its characters.
Fashion Director for the luxury e-commerce site Net-A-Porter said “Our customers take their style cues from myriad sources, from the latest runway shows and street trends to TV and film. Fashion plays an important role in The Hunger Games series and is especially prevalent in Catching Fire, and fans of the franchise will see the film reference in the collection.”
She’s absolutely right. Not only is the film franchise a huge influence on its fans, but the stunning JLaw herself proves she is a trendsetter as Katniss and herself. She’s the stunning spokeswoman for Dior, she kills it on the red carpet all the time, and her hairstyles influence fans and make me want to chop off my hair and rock a pixie cut just like hers.
The collection launched on November 21st, the day before the film premiered on Friday on Net-a-Porter. May the odds be ever in your favour and you get to snag one of the pieces!
