One of the first things you will want to start thinking about after you get engaged, apart from the dress, of course, is the venue. Do you already have somewhere in mind? Or, have you not thought that far ahead? Either way, it is important to know how to choose the right wedding venue. Once you have found the ideal wedding location, all those other details (the colour theme, cake and bridesmaids dresses) will start to fall into place.
However, when you are trying to find the perfect venue for your wedding it can be hard to know what to look out for, but don’t worry, that is where we come in! To help you pick the perfect wedding venue, we have come up with some handy tips to help you.
Size Matters
It might sound obvious, but make sure to pick a venue that is large enough to house all of your guests. The space may look enormous while empty, but once all the decorations, dance floor and tables and chairs in, it may not be as big as it looks. Checking with the owner to inform them on how many people the venue holds is a good idea to take a sneak peek at it while another wedding is going on. That way, you can get a feel for the atmosphere of the space when it is full of guests.
More Rooms, More Fun
Ideally, you want to choose a wedding venue that has small areas within it for various activities, such as eating, drinking, dancing, and chatting. While you are looking around the venue, try to imagine where each activity could happen. If the place seems to small to split into different areas, then it will probably be too cramped.
Keeping it Private
Privacy tends to vary from venue to venue, so it is important to think about how private you want your celebrations to be. For example, if you are planning on holding your celebrations in a public place, then you need to be prepared for strangers interrupting the celebrations. However, if you want a more intimate and private affair, then your best bet is to book out a private- specific venue.
A beautiful View
It is important to think about the view from the venue and what you will see when you look out of the windows. Whether it is a stunning city skyline or beautiful countryside, a wedding venue with a stunning backdrop is an amazing place to have a wedding.
Parking
It may not sound important now, but on the day when all 400 guests struggle to park, you will wish you had opted for somewhere with enough parking. If you fall in love with a venue and parking is a problem, think outside the box and come up with a solution. Is there somewhere else nearby that you could rent for guests, to park? Or, could you perhaps offer a shuttle service from the church to the venue and back again?
When choosing a venue for your wedding, the most important thing to remember is that it is your day. So, choose a venue that you love and that makes you happy.
