Most of us strive to have the strongest health possible, but it is not always clear on how to achieve this. Once you have taken care of the basics like sleep, eating habits and exercise, you might still be wondering what else you can do to properly boost your health.
Let’s take a look at some of the more common health mistakes that might harm your health. If you can avoid at least some of these, you’ll find that you are living a healthier and fuller life already.
Sitting Too Much
Many of us sit a lot throughout the day, as it is a necessary part of our work. Even if it is not, you probably sit when you are at home, whether it is watching tv or reading a book. Sitting a little is obviously nothing to worry about, but if you are doing it for hours every single day, that will actually have a negative effect on your health in general. Prolonged sitting is linked to increased body weight, poor respiration and even a higher risk of heart health issues, so clearly this is something you might want to think about.
If you think you might be sitting too much, all is not lost. It can be a simple change like using a standing desk while you are working from home or setting a timer to take regular standing and walking breaks while you work from home. Just making small changes like this can be enough to radically improve your health.
Ignoring Your Body
Your senses are a strong indicator to how your health is faring too. If you are paying close attention to your senses, it will mean that you are much more likely to notice when something changes in your body, whether it be in terms of your eyesight, hearing and more.
Pay close attention to your senses, when you can. If you notice that your eyesight is not quite what it once was, get it tested to make sure. If you think your hearing is struggling, look into getting some professional earwax removal or have an specialist check out your hearing. While your eyes, mouth and ears are not what you typically check out, keep monitoring them as they can indicate deeper health issues.
You’re Too Busy
We are often told that keeping busy is somehow an indication of how successful we are, and while it can be good to have lots to do, there is certainly such a thing as doing too much and keeping too busy. It’s important that you are aware when you are doing this, so that you can then work against it as best as you can. What’s the problem with keeping too busy? For one thing, it means that you are much more likely to get stressed out.
This is not good for your health in general because when you have all that cortisol levels increases, it reduces your body’s resilience considerably. So if you find that you are too busy, delegate some of your work and make a conscious effort to take breaks between your to-do list.
Binge-Scrolling
Would you consider yourself a social media addict? Most people would not use those words describing themselves, but the truth is that a lot of people are addicted to social media, whether or not they think of it in these terms. If you find yourself spending hours a day scrolling through social media then you may need to keep this to a minimum.
Too much scrolling can have a negative effect on your mental health, so reducing your hours on social media can help you to improve your mental health. And when that is the case, it improves your overall health as well.
