While it is not guaranteed that who you will date will be the match of your dreams, but choosing the right venue, atmosphere and activity can easily break the ice and even have you leaving the date feeling filled with excitement. While I think every date should be enjoyable, romantic and adventurous in some way, I have a few of my favourite top places to go, see and do to create an unforgettable dating experience.

A coffee date is a traditional, simple and fool-proof option for a first date., especially if you really want to learn more about the person. When considering an adventurous date, we aren’t talking about skydiving, but instead adventurous stands for unique and fun! If you are athletically inclined, we think rock climbing at Rock Oasis is the perfect way to be challenged, have some fun and get active. With the opportunity of beginner’s classes and lessons, it could be a great bonding experience to get you and your date working together and motivating each other.

Prefer to get adventurous with cooking? Le Dolci holds cooking classes for tasty treats like cakes, macaroons and more to get you and your date baking together to create something sweet. The way to a woman’s heart is always something tasty and pretty, so you can’t go wrong with this option!

Weekend dinner, or post-work drinks is a classic date option that you can really never go wrong with. In Toronto, choose between one of the cities countless restaurants and lounges or try something different like a dessert café. Weslodge on King happens to be one of my personal favourites and a great stylish and comfortable option for a trendy but romantic setting. Once you meet your date at the big beautiful canary yellow doors, it will be impossible not to be impressed! Prefer to indulge? Morocco Chocolat in Yorkville will help create a date to remember and will surely have you feeling sweet!

A personal favourite option for first dates is Snakes and Lattes or its counterpart, Snakes and Lagers in downtown Toronto. Packed with walls full of board games and a menu that is both delicious and appealing, this is the place where you can effectively achieve the romantic, adventurous, fun (and hilarious) date you were hoping for. Play some fun games like Scrabble, Pictionary, Apples to Apples and many more. Open early and closing late, this is a safe date that will quickly let you know if your date is right for you, or maybe just as competitive as you!
