Deborah Ann Woll Covers Glow Magazine’s September Issue
Fresh from her role as Karen Page, the female lead in the widely praised new Netflix Marvel series, Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll takes the spotlight in the September issue of Glow Magazine, on newsstands August 20, 2015. Known for her role on True Blood as a bloodsucking ginger bombshell, Woll chats with Glow about her career trajectory, issues she feels passionate about, how she has learned to love herself and more in the below excerpts from the exclusive interview:
On her journey to stardom:
“There’s nothing someone can throw at me that I haven’t experienced in some capacity, so I feel very prepared for whatever comes, and that’s an incredible feeling.”
On finding inner strength through acting:
“Things I would find scary in my own life I can do when I’m in character or when it’s in a story. So in a way, that is how I fight my own fears.”
On helping to combat bullying:
“My goal in doing that PSA [on bullying], and anytime I talk about bullying is more about forgiveness and understanding. Can we look at kids now and say, ‘OK, you’re hurting so why are you hurting people? Can we talk about that?’”
On self-acceptance:
“There are days when I feel very confident and then the very next day I might struggle with insecurity. It obviously has to come from within and it has to be something that you believe about yourself, and that is a lifetime pursuit. I think we all hope that we sort of accept what we’ve been given and love it for what it is.”
