Essie Canada at World Mastercard Fashion Week FW15
Last week, the tents at David Peacut Square were filled with Toronto’s finest as they came together for the premier week in fashion – World Mastercard Fashion Week. For Fall/Winter 2015, it wasn’t just about the fashion and the beauty backstage, but Essie Canada’s lead nail artist, Rita Remark created show-stopping nail looks for 7 designer collections this season.
From classic nude shades to vibrant prints, these 7 designers nail looks perfectly represented the fashion and added the perfect touch to complete each look. See the nail looks below.
Mikhael Kale
Mikhael Kale brought the past into the future, drawing inspiration from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. To reinvent the standard nude look, Sand Tropez and Blanc were used to imitate pale chiffon, which created an eye-catching effect.
Pink Tartan
Inspired by Japanese & Tibetan culture, Pink Tartan created a nail look that has spiritual and transcendent quality. The FW15 Pink Tartan woman is strong and centred. Rita Remark used Allure as a base and liquorice as a ‘nail tattoo’ with Matte About You top coat.
Melissa Nepton
Identified as ‘Romantic Warrior’, Melissa Nepton’s collection is heavily influenced by Asian culture and carries a mix of textures – heavy wools and light silks. Using Alter Schol Boy Blazer and No Place Like Chrome Rita Remark reflects the opposition of textures by creating a quarter moon style.
Hayley Elsaesser
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill meets 70’s glam was the inspiration for Hayley Elsaesser’s ‘Midnight Cowboy’ collection. Using Meet Me At Sunset, Naughty Nautical, Mod Square and Butler Please, this attention-grabbing design complements the collection’s bold, primary colours and patterns.
Mackage
Heavily influenced by the 70’s, the Mackage collection is very glam and sexy featuring a lot of black and pops of white. To coincide with the feel of the collection, Berry Naughty was used with Matte About You top coat created a deep V shape.
Soia & Kyo
The Soia & Kyo collection featured contemporary sophistication with touches of grey, a classic neutral. Grey shades, Smokin’ Hot & Chinchilly were used to create an ombre nail to emphasize the collection’s pantone.
Mikael D
The Mikael D collection evoked Chinese influences with designs incorporating black, reds and cut-outs. To keep the focus on the blotting, Topless and Barefoot and Vanity Fairest were used to create a nude nail that matched the model’s skin tone.
