This Friday, June 6, Etsy will be hosting its very first Canadian Craft Party. Etsy Craft Party is a one-day community event of meeting and making that takes place in various countries around the world, with nearly 5,000 attendees signed up for the 2014 event.

As part of the sixth annual global crafting celebration, 11 events will take place in five cities across the country: Vancouver, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, and at four venues in Toronto! 

The events bring Etsy buyers, bloggers and sellers together to support the DIY maker movement, involving local businesses and inspiring the community to craft and create. This year’s theme is Recapture: Bring new meaning to your photographs. Each event is all ages,  and crafting materials will be provided to those who stop by.

Where:

Etsy Headquarters in the Mars Centre (101 College St., Suite 320)
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Join Hoopla event design styling at Etsy headquarters and transform photographs into display-worthy works of art, using a variety of craft supplies and creative techniques. Enjoy tacos and cocktails by Grand Electric.
 
Textile Museum of Canada (55 Centre Ave.)
Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Bring new life to old photographs: stop by with a photo, selfie or postcard and craft them into something new by using hand embroidery, heat transfers and other techniques. Light snacks will be served.
 
Airbnb (426 Queen St. E.)
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Create home decor pieces with vintage photos with Anabela, from popular DIY craft blog Fieldguided.
 
The Shop (1139 College Street) 
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Bring a collection of your photocopied photographs to cover an 8×8 inch surface space and create a personalized art piece from your photo that carries personal memories and nostalgia with Re:Creative. Enjoy a popcorn bar and munchies from Neal Brothers.
