Photos and video from the fall 2013 GFG: http://glutenfreegarage.cawo of the hottest trends come together for Gluten Free Garage—a farmers’ market with a gluten-free twist—on Sunday, November 9. At its 4th pop-up at Artscape Wychwood Barns, Toronto’s go-to gluten-free event features more than 60 handpicked vendors showcasing the city’s best in gluten-free eats and lifestyle, including food trucks, guest speakers and, for the first time, beer and cider tasting.
More than 2,000 people are expected to attend this one-of-a-kind event—a testament to the growing demand for high-quality gluten-free products and services. “The gluten-free community is hungry for the latest, and Gluten Free Garage is my way of sharing fantastic new finds,” says founder RonniLyn Pustil (celiac mom). With 60-plus mostly local, artisanal vendors—sampling and selling everything from gluten-free baked goods to savoury foods to personal care items—GFG offers one-stop worry-free shopping in a hip, urban space. “It’s the one day when people with celiac and gluten intolerance can eat to their hearts’ content without fear of cross-contamination. And the food is so tasty that even the non-gluten-free will be happy to indulge.”
The GFG speaker series features Kathy Smart (“Gluten-Free Belly Be Gone”—how to navigate the gluten-free aisles to make better food choices for your health and waistline), Bunner’s Bake Shop co-owner Ashley Wittig (“Breakfast with Bunner’s”—granola and waffles, need we say more?) and holistic culinary nutritionist Marni Wasserman (“Abundant, Simple Gluten-Free Dinners”—and they’re gourmet too).

GFG launched in the fall of 2012 as Toronto’s first pop-up gluten-free marketplace. Inspired by her daughter Lily, 8, who was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2009, GFG founder RonniLyn Pustil created the event to give people a taste of what’s going on gluten free in Toronto. She aims to promote and provide better access to top-quality local gluten-free food, create awareness about celiac disease, and prove that gluten-free food can be super tasty. GFG 2014 sponsors include Italpasta, Lady York Foods, Organic Works Bakery, Hero Certified Burgers, JK Gourmet, Kelly’s Bake Shop, Lettuce Love Café, Neal Brothers and Zipcar.
