Amy Winehouse was a tiny woman with huge hair and an even bigger voice, but unfortunaterly the biggest thing about her were the demons she had been battling for years.
Although she was incredibly talented and brought home five Grammy’s for her Back To Black album, Winehouse more often than not made the front page of countless tabloids either for domestics with her then hubby Blake Fielder-Civil or substance abuse (that stuff up her nose must be glitter…?).
Earlier this year we featured the S/S 2011 collaboration between Amy Winehouse & Fred Perry, and although her death may not have come as a huge shock to anyone, we had no idea back in March that mid summer we’d revisit the Winhouse/Perry file again under such grim circumstances.
Although the songstress lived a troubled life, her talent was undeniable and her music will go down in history. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and her fans.
Amy may no longer be with us but her memory will never fade and 25 years from now Ally still has every intention to continue strutting in sky high stilettos down a dark street just after the rain, with the concrete runway illuminated only by the dim glow of lamps, listening to Back To Black by the legendary star.
After much consideration and with the blessing of Amy’s family, we have decided to release the AW11 and wholesale the SS12 Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry Collection. Winehouse was passionate and dedicated to the collaboration and her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece. In such circumstances, Winehouse’s royalties and fees from both collections will be donated to the soon-to-be-established Amy Winehouse Foundation. Fred Perry will also make a seasonal donation to the Foundation. – FredPerry.com
“When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection, it was natural to continue. Amy loved working on both collections and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name”, says Mitch Winehouse, Winehouse’s father.
The collection will be available at Fred Perry’s flagship Canadian store located at 964 Queen St. W.,Toronto, Urban Boutique in Edmonton and online at www.fredperry.com.
