Fresh Flower Crown DIY

IMG_4696

Over the weekend I had some time to kill while I waited got ready for The Grove Music Festival last Saturday so I decided to do a quick DIY since the flowers in the garden were looking so beautiful that day. This is legit the easiest DIY to do and anyone can do it. People have their own way of making floral crowns but this time I knew glue wasn’t going to cut it with real flowers.

What You’ll Need:

– Fresh cut flowers (Washed and stripped of any dying petals)

– Scissors or pliers

– Green gardening wire (I got mine from the dollar store)

As I mentioned this before, this is so easy that I didn’t want to flood this post with detailed picture after picture.

Depending on the size of your head and how you want the crown to fit, you can remove some of the leaves from the flower so it’s not as full but it’s really up to you.

Once you are ready to start making your crown, create a circle of the flowers on your work area so you have an idea about how many flowers you are working with – this also depends on the type of flower. At this point you are going to use the green wire and wrap it around the flower stem until you feel it’s sufficiently tight.

You want to keep following with each flower as if they are in a row overlapping each so it creates a train almost.

Continue until you feel as though the crown is as full as you want and it fits comfortably to your head. I was somewhat careless with where I winded the wire, but try to wrap the wire under some of the leaves so they are camouflaged.

Then… Voila!

I happen to love working with real flowers since they look better and I find them easier to work with and fit on my head perfectly! I can’t wait to try this in the Fall with leaves and wild flowers!

So now that you know how to do a fresh floral crown, will you give it a try?
