Some beauty gurus argue that mascara is not a cosmetics investment piece and that most mascaras are alike. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we don’t disagree with this statement entirely, but we do have some theories of our own. We’re complete lovers of deals and steals but sometimes the feeling of splurging on a luxury item is enough to justify the purchase – especially when the product turns out to be Holy Grail material.

Givenchy’s Noir Couture mascara is divine. What can we say about it that you don’t see in the photos yourself? It’s very pigmented, really extends the lashes and gives them a lot of volume for a dramatic look. It glides on easily without a clumpy mess. What we love is that this tube of liquid luxury is build-able so you can start from a more polished and simple look to a loud, crazy false lash effect. It is on the pricey side, averaging at about $38CDN but definitely worth the investment.

It’s easy to find an incredible drugstore mascara at a cheap price because it doesn’t cost much and if the tube fails us we toss it, forget about the $6, and move on to the next one until we find the one that fits our needs. This is a  lot harder to do with higher end products because tossing $40 in the trash is more painful. We recommend going to your local department store and asking for a sample at the brand’s counter or perhaps if they will apply some on your lashes for free.
