The Sockless Sock Bun – Tutorial

The Sockless sock bun hairstyle has become my old faithful for days when you desire a sleek look but you know you’re dealing with flat hair or lets be honest, it’s just dirty. While I’ve used the sock bun net piece before, I didn’t like the lack of “poof” in it and what about when you just don’t have the piece with you? My hair is also mid-length, so this is an easy to achieve hairstyle, regardless of the length.

Start with hair in a ponytail like you would with a sock bun, but instead of using it, pull the hair up high and tease all around the ponytail until most of it is teased. Separate the hair into a donut and lightly brush hair overtop so that the top layer is smooth and resting on the teased hair. With your hands, begin lightly wrapping the ends of the fallen hair around the root of your elastic, making sure to keep the smooth area of the bun on top. Tease and play with the hair using your fingers to achieve a full bun and secure with bobby pins.
