GOTO Eat: CAFE BAR PASTA

After opening its doors just a year and a half ago, CAFE BAR PASTA has made its mark in the Dundas West area with mouthwatering dishes from Chef Jay Scaife, while Toronto based artist, Jose Ortega creates a beautiful ambiance that cannot be replicated.

Owners Tom Bielecki and wife Christine Vieira have built a unique restaurant that offers espresso and house baked pastries in the morning to delectable creations at night made by Chef Jay Scaife. Drawing inspiration from his formal training in French, Italian and Japanese cuisine, Chef Scaife has created an all around menu with current drool-worthy plates like the Braised CBP Beef Agnolotti as well as their Gnocchi. Every dish is unique and beautifully plated with a taste that you just can’t find anywhere.

The dinner list was paired with an all embracing wine menu. Featuring six wines on tap, a selection curated by one of only two Master Sommliers in Canada, John Szabo, the wine list was crafted so patrons could enjoy top quality estate and single vineyard red and whites at lower prices.

“We were aiming to prove to Toronto that you can find upscale food and service in an engaging atmosphere without an unrealistic price tag and I think we’ve accomplished just that,” adds CAFE BAR PASTA co-owner and established fashion stylist and interior designer Vieira. “The experience of our guests is our priority.”

I ended up devouring ordering the Agnolotti Pillows while my date enjoyed the Grilled Ravioli with Beef Cheek and obviously after sharing, we were both in love.

The décor also perfectly compliments the unique food with style that is both charming and chic. Owners Tom Bielecki and wife Christine transformed the previous office into a classic and modern space with graphic artwork. International exhibited Toronto based artist Jose Ortega created an acrylic piece for the restaurant while stunning details including Foscarini and Fabbian chandeliers, a cork-filled gallery wall filled with more than 10,000 bottles, and a Calacatta marble top bar complimented the menu and character perfectly.
