Since the start of the year, I have convinced myself that I needed to get into shape and feeling great again. I say again because I was a national gymnast (back in the day) and while I always struggled with my weight, I was incredibly fit up until I had a bad injury which left me to retire the sport.
Since then, I had continued to struggle to find the right workout that my body would react positively to. Running, weight training and any sports I could get into wasn’t exactly cutting it, and though I was getting stronger, my body didn’t feel like my body anymore. Dealing with previous injuries and losing my flexibility from leaving gymnastics, I hoped to someday not only feel strong, but improve my posture and muscle balancing. Designed to do just that, I was introduced to Eden Pilates, and I thought to myself, “why not!?”
At the time of starting out at EP, I was dealing with hip issues which left me in pain and unable to even walk some days, so I was looking for a workout that was going to tackle my muscles, posture, balance and flexibility but wouldn’t be too painful for my hip. As I walked in on my first class, I was immediately greeted by the accommodating staff and was welcomed with open arms and given a quick run through of the class.
One of the most important things to me when going to fitness class, is the staff. The ladies at Eden Pilates have a calming way about them that allows you to feel comfortable and motivated. I was pleasantly surprised that only after a few classes, I actually felt like I was taking a class with some of my closest friends.
Led by Eden Haugland, Eden Pilates is the place to feel motivated and confident. Handpicked by Eden herself, the staff is well trained, passionate and just as amiable, so you know that you are leaving even happier than when you arrived. Each class only allows 6 participants, so you are getting the attention to detail that is needed in this type of workout. Like Yoga, attention is placed on the connection between breath and movement during pilates, but with challenging movements and holding positions, you leave there in a sweat and feeling satisfied!
Start A Class Now!
If you’re a newbie to pilates like I was, Eden always starts you with Groundwork. From the basics, you can move on to great options like Pure Elements, Straight up Springwall or Unplugged which is a candlelight wind down class which will keep you focused, relaxed and feeling oh-so good! Once you have established a good base of groundwork, all classes are open, so you can find out what classes you love the most and which fit well with your schedule.
We hope that now you realize how important posture can be for your overall health and fitness goals, so Eden’s highly successful month long program, Posture Academy, will teach you all about what good posture really is and what you need to strengthen to get there. Another great month long program is the Morning Innergizer, designed to get people up and moving at 7 am and is complete with a Kupfert and Kim smoothie to send you off ready for your day. I always love to attend morning workouts because it sets you up for the rest of the day feeling amazing. Even if it seems early for you, you have to trust me and at least give it a try – you won’t be disappointed!
Once you start to fall in love with Eden Pilates like I haven you will never want to leave, and lucky for you, Eden allows you to come more often and for less! The studio still sells classes in packages, but now have the 30 day 12 class pass for only $198 and the 30 day 8 class pass for $148, which happens to be very affordable in comparison to what else is out there.
If you’re looking to show your body some love, want to challenge yourself, or looking to get into pilates, I definitely recommend Eden Pilates, as the classes are great, the staff is even more wonderful and your body will thank you for it!
