Located at 630 Queen Street West, Young & Tae has become my new favourite place to shop for fashionable AND comfortable shoes. I mean actually comfortable, wear them all night long, don’t get blisters comfortable. After stopping by a few times as I shopped on Queen West, I soon realized that Young & Tae isn’t your typical shoe store.
Featuring an array of shoe styles, including ballet flats, wedges, heels (with a collection of different heights) and boots, you are bound to find something right for you and any occasion. The best part about shopping at Young & Tae is the layout of the store. As someone who hates the typically stuffy and overly stocked stores, this one is open, airy and beautiful with a logo-adorned mirror along the wall. Where some brands can go crazy with decor and imagery, Young & Tae keeps it simple, allowing their footwear to do the talking.
Okay, I lied. The best part about shopping at Young & Tae isn’t the layout, but rather their made-to-order services. Very rarely do you get the chance to customize an item all your own, and if you are, you’re spending far more than just sticking to the original. Not this time. I was so excited to be given the opportunity to test out their made-to-order services at Young & Tae and happy does not begin to cover it.
The owners David & Jenny along with their amazing staff let me know that I could choose a shoe style I liked, and a height I was comfortable with and then I could choose a pattern/colour to complete the look. While I wanted to go crazy, I knew I needed a simple black pump that would be comfortable and could take me anywhere. The staff was incredibly helpful, offering their suggestions for what would work best and quickly pulled out their massive folder (pictured below) of colours fabrics that would best suit the look I wanted to create.
What I ended up with was a black embossed leather covering a simple but chic pump. I kept the heel to a decent height and loved the inner side low cut of the shoe. The heels are so comfortable but they offer a touch of edge incase I like to style the shoe with distressed denim or a graphic tee. I was so happy with how the shoes turned out and especially how fast the shoe was done. It only took three weeks!
The made-to-order service at Young & Tae is like no other. Only a $15 addition to the original shoe price, so there is no reason why you can’t have the shoe of your dreams. I know I did!
Next time you’re in the Toronto area, stop by Young & Tae and check out their large assortment of fashionable and comfortable footwear. You won’t be disappointed!
