Your Guide To Feeling And Looking Your Best
Feeling and looking your best go hand in hand. If you feel good, then you automatically glow from the inside out and look good. If you look good, you can feel better about yourself. However, there are different things you can do to achieve both of these things. Here’s our unrivalled guide to feeling and looking your best.
Eat Well
Eating well is going to have a lot to do with how good you feel and look. The food you eat literally fuels your body, and can change your mood. While the odd treat is OK, eating too many sugary snacks can leave you feeling groggy, spotty, and with a handful of other ailments. Eating well will keep you at a healthy weight, make you feel happier and more energised, as well as make you glow. No food is off limits, as thinking this way can make you develop unhealthy eating disorders down the line. However, you must make sure you’re eating in moderation. The majority of your food should be rich in vegetables and fruits, and alongside your healthy diet, it could be a good idea to make sure you take vitamins too. Be consistent and enjoy the things you eat. Experimenting with different recipes is a lot of fun too!
Exercise Regularly
Regular exercise is crucial. You can do any kind of exercise you enjoy, from walking to intense crossfit workouts. However, a mix is usually best. Doing a small amount of exercise each day is recommended. For instance, 10 minutes of yoga in the morning, or a walk in the afternoon to maintain and feel great each day since exercise releases more endorphins into the body, which make us feel much happier. You might feel happier immediately after working out, but it’ll make a long-term difference to your mood too. There are just too many benefits to ignore!
Starting off at a level you’re comfortable with is fine. You don’t need to start off with hardcore workouts right away. When you feel comfortable, you can try doing something that helps you to break a sweat. After all, breaking a sweat a couple of times a week is great for your health.
Try Yoga
There are many different forms of exercise you can try, and lots of them are amazing. However, yoga is possibly one of the best kinds to incorporate and its a workout that I try to incorporate in my workouts as much as possible. Not only does it focus on better breathing and a clearer head, it’s also low impact. This means yoga is perfect for most ages and fitness levels, and you can practice it at home with an app or at a class.
Meditate
Meditation isn’t just for hippies. Meditation is the perfect solution for stress relief, mindfulness, happiness, and more. It can make you more creative, more confident – the list goes on. Don’t try to do too much at once. Maybe get into the habit of doing it once a week for 10 minutes, and then build it up. If you can do it everyday for 10 minutes, you won’t believe how you feel! Again, there are apps that can help you with this, and even workshops you can do.
Dress Well
The way we dress can actually change our outlook and perspective on life. If you dress in clothes you love, you’re going to feel good. If you dress in loungewear and pyjamas every day, you’re likely to feel lethargic and unenthusiastic. You don’t need to dress up to the nines each day, but making sure your clothes help you to feel good and productive is important. Ask yourself, how do I feel in the clothes I’m wearing? They will change your attitude to almost everything you do that day, so make good decisions.
Cut Back On Any Bad Habits
We all have bad habits to some degree. You might need to quit smoking, eating junk, or simply biting your nails. Getting rid of your bad habits and not ‘needing’ anything is true freedom. Different methods work for different people. You might find the Emotional Freedom Technique helpful, while others attempt to go cold turkey.
Learn To Love Yourself
This is possible for everybody, no matter what level you’re at now. Love the skin you’re in, your body, your features and learn to accept them. It can be difficult to do, but with practice, it’ll come. You are enough, so stop comparing yourself and wishing you were different. If you can’t be happy now, you’ll never be happy, so stop putting happiness off and become your own best friend. It’ll be the best thing you ever do! Remember, if you don’t love yourself, you can’t truly love another. Here are some pointers that will help you to do this:
- Find things you love about yourself, even if they’re only small.
- Watch your self-talk in your head and around other people.
- Make positive affirmations/afformations.
- Imagine your ideal self in the future, and ask them what you should do if you’re unsure.
Keep Up Regular Health Appointments
Regular health appointments become even more important as you get older. You need to make sure you see the doctor, dentist, optician, and anybody else at least once a year (or as recommended) to ensure you’re healthy. If you have a problem, don’t put it off. For example, you can find a dentist 24 hourly if you crack a tooth, lose a filling, or have another problem. You shouldn’t take chances with your health!
Spend Time With The Right People
It’s a fact that we become most like people we spend the most time with. Would you be happy with that? If you’re spending time with negative people who do silly things and tend to self destruct occasionally, you’ll likely do the same. Make sure you’re spending time with people who care about you, lift you up, and want the best for you. It’s OK to have lots of friends and keep your old ones, but bearing in mind that you’ll become most like those you spend the most time around is crucial.
Develop Yourself
There’s no point in staying the same forever. We are designed to evolve, learn, and grow. How can you develop yourself? Maybe you could learn a new skill, or go somewhere new. Begin by making a list of things you’d like to do in the next 5 years and make plans to work towards them. So many people have things they want to do but don’t do anything about them. This leaves you with lots of regrets as you get older, because if you don’t try new things, you’ll probably always wonder what your life could have been like. You’ll likely make some unforgettable memories too. There’s no better feeling than having a well rounded, full life. Remember, you’re never too old to start either. Some people find brand new hobbies and passions when they’re in their 60s, sometimes older, so have fun!
Use this unrivalled guide to feeling and looking your best and you’ll soon start to notice changes. You skin will improve, you’ll smile more, and you’ll be happy even on the gloomiest days. That’s just a handful of the benefits you can expect! You owe it to yourself to give yourself a wonderful life experience. Don’t wait around for too long and let things pass you by. The most important thing is filling your life full of fun and things that you love.
