How to Put Together A Kickass Wardrobe For Fall
This is my favourite time of year!
The humidity is on its way out and the breezy temps are back which makes all the opportunities for what to wear. This is the time to layer your favourite pieces and bust out those items that you’ve had hiding in your closet all summer long. It’s also the best time to get creative with your outfits and here’s how:
Layers on Layers
Layering is essential when you are transitioning into Fall. With colder mornings, warmer afternoons and a return of cold at night, its important to have layers so you can remove and add pieces whenever you need to! This is the time to leave the bigger and bulky items like coats at home because firstly, it’s about to get colder so don’t get ahead of yourself, but most importantly, its insanely uncomfortable in a big jacket that leaves no room to breath. Try pairing a turtleneck under a blazer for added warmth or opt for a knit sweater underneath a trench. This is also when a chic scarf comes into play or a hat that helps keep you warm and stylish at the same time!
Blazers Always
Following up on the topic of layers, blazers will be your best friend while transitioning seasons. They are a no brainer essential and will easily do wonders in your closet for fall. Have your pick of simple and classic styles but my personal favourite is the trendy plaid or tartan. Of course, a blazer can easily go with a pair of denim or matching bottom to create a suit, but I’m loving how a blazer looks over dresses, slips and even mini skirts!
Footwear Is Key
Footwear is really what gets me excited for the season and that’s because Fall in Toronto officially marks the start of boot season! I truly believe that every woman should own a simple and sleek chelsea style boot and in both a flat and heel version like these ones. An over the knee boot is also handy for pairing with a flowy skirt or dress and it actually looks amazing paired with an oversized sweater on top. Believe it or not, but a great pair of boots can actually be worn with shorts in the fall. YES! Add a pair of sheer black stockings and then layer on a pair of shorts with a blazer or oversized knit!
Hats and More Hats
You guys know that I am all about the hats! A simple addition of a hat whether it be a beret, baker boys hat, toque or brimmed hat can completely transform your look. Not only will a hat amp up your look, but it will keep your noggin warm so that way you can style a chic look without feeling like your ears are going to fall off!
Accessorize
Of course hats are an accessory, but because I love them, they had to stand alone! With that being said, fall is accessory month. This is when all the scarves, bags, hats and jewellery come out to play and boy is it my fave! Now don’t get me wrong, you can wear accessories all year long and can easily transfer them to Fall, but this is the time to have fun with it all. Opt for a leopard print bag to go with all the autumn hues, or pick up a chic beret in a wine colour for an added touch.
