Jeremy Scott, the American designer best known for his quirky collections has been appointed the new create director of Italian fashion house Moschino. Scott will claim the reigns from Rossella Jardini, who has remained in the position since 1994 when she took over after Franco Moschino passed away.
Scott has successfully run his own label for the past 16 years out of LA and actually interned at Moschino during his final year at Pratt. Aeffe, the parent company that owns Moschino as well as Philosophy and Emanuel Ungaro, hopes this new appointment will inject new energy into the brand.
Scott agrees and acknowledges that his target demographic is much younger than Moschino’s which can only mean the fashion house is willing to take risks with such an outrageous creative personality and is ready to embrace a new type of customer. Scott is excited for his new role and the key element he admires most about the brand is its humour, which makes this a perfect fit!
Although Scott is fearless when it comes to colour and print, his garments are always extremely well made and there is no doubt that he will be able to pay homage to the classic Moschino brand while breathing some fresh air into a brand that is due for a shakeup.
He will debut his first collection for Fall of 2014 at Milan Fashion Week in February.
To celebrate Scott’s new venture, here are some of his creations from previous shows:
