“I don’t speak Italian but I do speak Moschino,”
The talented designer with cheeky flair, Jeremy Scott, donned the phrase on his white t-shirt as he bowed at the end of his first runway show for Moschino. All eyes were on the Italian fashion haus this season to see what the American wunderkind would bring to the famous fashion empire known as Moschino, and needless to say he did not disappoint.
The collection followed a trajectory: looks inspired by McDonalds, yes, you read that correctly, some inspired by Chanel, crazy and fun pieces featuring SpongeBob Square Pants, and Scott ended the show with sweet confectionary pieces made out of giant candy wrappers. Moschino also handed out customized chocolate bars to all shows attendees.
While most pieces are meant to make a statement that although Scott is now designing for Moschino he will remain true to himself and his asthetic that has made him a household name after all these years and a favourite amongst celebrities such as Katy Perry (whom he started the show an hour late for).
“I feel like a child at Christmas with new toys, I can’t play with just one.” Jeremy Scott told Luisa Zargani from WWD the day before the show in Milan.
