Toronto Welcomes Standalone McCafe Locations

McDonald’s Canada is kicking off 2016 in a big way with its newest upscale standalone McCafé location at First Canadian Place in Toronto. Following up after its successful Union station opening, McDonalds is challenging its competitors, Starbucks and Tim Hortons with their standalone McCafé concept, allowing fans of the food chain to indulge in a cafe-esque vibe with delicious food and treats.

Wednesday night I had the opportunity to attend the latest McCafé opening in Toronto to test out the menu and when I finally arrived, I was immediately intrigued by the cafe look, the countless food options and the many convenient features of the standalone McCafé. Already familiar with the McCafé brand, I knew that there would be familiar offerings like their classic brewed coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies and baked goods, but with their standalone locations, they are going a step above with new soups, salads, cold and hot sandwiches as well as their legendary Egg McMuffins which happen to be available all day. Yes, all day!

Luckily the tasting allowed me to try a number of options from the menu, but my favourite had to be the brie and apple croissant. I’m actually salivating as I write this because the sandwich is unreal. If you are watching your carb intake however, then the salads are equally pleasing. The kale and brussels sprout salad is mouthwatering and it makes for the perfect lunch option with a side of blueberry pomegranate smoothie. There are really so many choices that you can’t go wrong with and the cafe design fits for any occasion whether you are stopping in for lunch or grabbing a bite on the go!

Speaking of on the go. Taking the convenience of the standalone McCafé with delicious food, the cafe also offers pay and go screens so you can order and pay right from the screen and have your order ready in no time! This is great for long lines while you’re in a rush and it’s incredibly easy to use and follow!
