#MODIFRY Loaded Fry Salad Recipe with McCain
While some of us see fries as a side dish, I am a serious fry lover and motivated to getting more creative in the kitchen, so I love the idea of incorporating it into the main dish! McCain was here just in time to challenge me to #Modifry my fries and create something new, delicious and easy to make!
Now, you must be scratching your head – “Salad?” you may say, but yes, not only is it healthy but our recipe here is delicious without having to feel guilty while incorporating McCain’s #Superfries 5-minute Shoestring. Even I was skeptical when I thought of the idea but the best way to think of this is as if you are enjoying a burger and fries meal, but instead its healthier and it is all blended into one dish! Also, to save time, I went with McCain shoestring superfries because they are made with real Canadian potatoes, canola oil and sea salt with zero trans fat, cholesterol free and low in saturated fat – keeping this a fresh and healthy recipe!
The crispness of the fresh colourful vegetables mixed with the mouthwatering cheese and ground beef really allow the fries to mix perfectly with the salad and combine together for a great taste.
Still skeptical? See below for the easy to prepare recipe and taste it for yourself. We are hooked!
Ingredients
Salad:
- 1 cup of McCain’s #Superfries 5-Minuts Shoestring
- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 small onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon worchestire sauce
- 5 cups lettuce, chopped
- 1/2 of Red and yellow pepper chopped
- 1 cup of Grape tomatoes cut in halves
- 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese, to taste
Dressing:
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon worchestire sauce
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Pre-heat the oven to 450°F / 232°C.
Start by cutting all vegetables and toss into a bowl with the chopped lettuce then add a touch of dressing to the top. Add the onions and beef to a heated skillet, brown the beef until cooked through and the onions are soft. Add mustard, garlic powder, paprika and worcestershire sauce, cook another 2-3 minutes or until warmed through. Remove form the heat and season with salt and pepper. Place fries on a cooking pan and place in the oven for no more than 5 minutes. Finish by adding ground beef and fries to the salad. Garnish with shredded cheese.
Voila! It’s that easy.
