Although I am overly obsessed with make-up and all things beauty, my day-to-day make-up routine is pretty simple. I stick to using the basics but over the years I’ve managed to figure out what really works for me and what doesn’t. Below are the products I ALWAYS have in my make-up bag and doubt I will ever replace.
I discovered this foundation about two years ago and completely fell in love with it. Over the last twelve years that I’ve been wearing make-up, I have tried an insane amount of different foundations. I have combination skin and in my teen years I struggled with acne. I still get break-outs but not to the same degree as before. This foundation (for me) beats all the rest because it is long-lasting, doesn’t clog my pores or cause acne, glides on smoothly and leaves a lovely semi-matte finish. I swear by it and I continue to try different foundations simply to prove that this one really is the best. Doing this may not be the smartest idea or beneficial to my wallet but it gives me pleasure in knowing that Double Wear will never fail me.
I won’t ramble on about this product because it’s as wonderful as the foundation. This concealer is a great consistency and texture and I love that it stays put all day.
I’m not a huge fan of all Nars products simply because I feel a lot of them are over-priced and don’t live up to the hype; however, I absolutely adore their powder blushes. My sister bought one a long time ago in the shade “Orgasm” (subtle, I know) and it’s been something I reach for constantly. The colour is quite popular among YouTube beauty gurus and make-up artists alike. It wears well on the skin, lasts a long time, and gives a pretty natural glow.
Clinique Pressed Powder
Because I have combination skin I tend to get oily around my t-zone, I need to use make-up that is hypoallergenic and that won’t clog my pores but that will keep me matte and fresh at the same time. I’ve been using this Clinique powder for as long as I can remember and I love it because it does everything I need it to. A great alternative for someone on a budget is the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder (which I am currently using because my Clinique one just finished and I haven’t been to Sephora yet).
This is my holy grail when it comes to mascara. I’ve tried hundres of tubes of the black gooey stuff and this is by far my favourite. It has a very bold and dark colour which is great for covering up my lashes’ blonde tips. The formula is great because it glides on smoothly but really elongates and thickens at the same time without creating a spider lash hot mess. What’s best about it is that it’s super cheap and can be found in probably every drugstore around the world.
I don’t really like wearing lipstick or lipgloss as often as the next girl so I’m always on a hunt for incredible lip balms. The Eos (Evolution of Smooth) one in “sweet mint” is one of my favourites. I have three so I always have one in my purse, in my room, and in my bathroom. They moisturize incredibly but without feeling greasy, which I love! I also like the neat packaging although it isn’t very practical if you’re carrying a small purse.
Since gel eyeliners have become popular, I’ve been reaching for my pencil a lot less (although I have a kohl one that I love as well). What’s great about these liners from MAC is that they last all day, apply easily, and have a good consistency. They also double up really nicely as eyeshadow bases and work great in place of cream shadows.
Since I’m already using the Clinique pressed powder I figured I’d try their bronzer as well and I love it just as much. They have a lovely selection of colours in a few different finishes which all look lovely on the skin. Just like the powder, this product won’t clog your pores. Also, I’ve never had a problem with this or any of the products listed above when it comes to oxidization.
I hope that this has been helpful to at least some of you. If you’ve tried any of these products I would like to get your opinion! If you have anything you could recommend I should try or maybe advise me to stay away from something I’d love to hear from you!
