Natalie Dormer for FASHION Magazine’s February Issue
Known for her widely popular role as Margaery Tyrell on HBO’s Game of Thrones and also as the tough girl Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films, British actress Natalie Dormer looks flawless as the cover star of FASHION Magazine‘s February issue, on newsstands and iPad January 11, 2016. For the issue, the actress sat down with FASHION to chat about sticking up for yourself, upcoming film projects, keeping up with appearances and more:
On her Game of Thrones character:
“[Margaery Tyrell’s] strength is that she is so beautifully and cleverly ambitious, but, ultimately, because she can’t walk away from the game or her ambition, it becomes her biggest undoing.”
On beauty being only skin deep:
“If you’re not happy with the internal you, you’ll never be happy with the external you. Visual judgment is a part of life, but we have to struggle daily with the fact that it’s what’s inside that should be prioritized.”
On gender disparity in Hollywood:
“Women are approximately 50 per cent of the population. We need art in this medium of cinema and TV that reflects that—full stop. When we aren’t talking about gender anymore, we’ve achieved equality. But we still have to talk about inequality until that happens.”
On realistic perceptions of actors:
“Actors are not models. We have to be real people and look quirky and imperfect. Telling stories is a celebration of human nature, which means you’re not perfect inside or outside.”
