  1. Get everyone to agree

The most important thing you need to do when organizing a group holiday is get everyone in the group to agree. To do this, you need to find out what it is that the rest of the group wants from the trip.

Where are you going to go skiing? Do you want to stay in a chalet or hotel? Are you taking a plane or train? It’s also a good idea to find out what facilities are important to people – do they want a hot tub, ski-in-ski-out access?

  1. Ask people to commit

Once you have decided what area and resort you are going to, the next step is to ask people to commit, by paying a deposit. This can either be paid to you or directly to the holiday provider.

If the luxury ski accommodation is only affordable with a lot of people, make sure that you have enough commitment.

  1. Get all the information you need from the group

The next thing you need to do is check that you have everything you need from the group – full names, dates of birth, etc.

If you are planning on booking a serviced chalet, it’s worthwhile asking about any food allergies or dislikes. Is anyone vegetarian? Does anyone follow a vegan diet? Does anyone have any allergies – nuts, seafood, seeds?

  1. Book equipment and passes in advance

If you leave booking ski equipment and lift passes until your first morning on the slopes, you will end up wasting a lot of time. Instead, speak to the group about booking equipment and passes in advance, so that the first morning is less stressful.

  1. Discuss ski lessons beforehand

If you are all at different levels, it’s probably best to each enroll in a group lesson for your level. However, if there are a few people in the group who are all at similar levels, then hiring a private instructor could work well. If most of the group want private tuition, then perhaps you could rent an instructor for the week and split the cost.

Remember, as long as you are organized and well prepared, group skiing trips can be a lot of fun. Going away with friends can be an amazing experience, as long as everyone gets on well, that is.

The key to group vacation success is ensuring that everyone is happy with your choices for the trip. That’s why good communication is so important between everyone in the group.
