Club Monaco has launched a curated collection of vintage, hand-made pieces locally sourced and crafted in the south of France. Just in time for the warmer weather, Place Nationale x Club Monaco is a line of summer styles made of vintage fabrics sourced at popular (and hidden) flea markets, then hand-crafted in Antibes, France and sold only in London’s Portobello Market. Beginning this April, Place Nationale x Club Monaco is now available exclusively at Club Monaco!
We are head over heels for this collection and its delicately constructed hand-embroidered fabrics mixed with a bohemian style to each piece. The unique Place Nationale brand is owned and operated by husband and wife duo, Dougy and Amanda Butterworth, and their brand is named after the town in Antibes where Mrs. Butterworth hand-knits every piece of their collection.
Every August, the Butterworth’s leave their home base in London and drive down to Antibes, stopping along the way at both popular flea markets and smaller, tucked away markets including vide greniers. Here they source all their antique lace, hand-embroidered cotton, vintage fabrics and cloths that are reconstructed into shapes, styles which create the Place Nationale collection. Once the fabrics are sourced, the couple travels to their vacation cottage in Antibes where Mrs. Butterworth lays the fabrics over tables, floors and any free space in the studio, and fuses different pieces together to create tops/blouses, dresses and skirts. Mrs. Butterworth designs and sews each unique piece by hand, ensuring no two items are alike.
The Club Monaco collection features more than 500 hand-crafted, vintage dresses, tunics, blouses and skirts. No two pieces are the same and each item is exclusive to Club Monaco. Prices range from $229 – $369.
