Planning the Proposal
If you have been in a relationship for a while, you may be wondering about how to take it to the next level, and getting engaged is a pretty big deal. Perhaps you’ve already been talking about long term plans or even life changing events like children. You may already be living with the love of your life. So how can you move on from this to ‘happily ever after’?
Getting engaged can be a spur of the moment proposal or a planned and prepared event. You may want to pop the question yourself, or you may be waiting for your man to get down on one knee with a beautiful ring. Of course, if you’d rather go with a custom engagement ring, then you need to have the talk sooner rather than later to get an idea about what you want.
Picking out a ring for yourself is quite common these days. Designing your own ring is a lovely thing to do as well to make it unique and something all your own. As more and more men are also wearing rings to symbolise their commitment to their partners, you could choose a matching pair. It doesn’t need to take all the romance out of the proposal. The act of proposing is just as romantic, whatever you find in the ring box.
If you consider yourself to be a modern bride, and are thinking about proposing to your man, there are several ways you could approach it. You could traditionally get down on one knee, or alternatively, why not take to the stage at a public event and propose in front of everybody? Whether you go for a huge and grand gesture, or something intimate and romantic curled up on the sofa, the proposal can be nerve wracking but yet so special and tailored to your relationship.
Overcoming your nerves can be the hardest part, but rest assured, once it happens, it’s just magical. Of course, your husband-to-be will be going through all the same emotions and worries if he chooses to propose to you. He may be petrified you’ll say no, even if you’ve already discussed spending the rest of your lives together. Proposing is scary, and it’s about taking risks. It’s also about declaring your undying love and your true feelings. It’s romantic, and it’s beautiful.
Once you’ve said yes and you’re engaged, all the worry may be gone. Of course, there is all the pressure of announcing your engagement to friends and family, and then the wedding to follow, which requires a lot to organize and plan for. There may be parties and presents, as well having to meet so many members of each other’s family.
Getting engaged can be scary but it can also be one of the most romantic moments in your lives together. You’ll always remember your proposal, so make it a good one. Choose a beautiful moment and a beautiful ring. And say yes!
