Roger’s Cup with National Bank
This year, Toronto is home to Roger’s Cup featuring some of the top female tennis players from around the world at York University. Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending my second day at Roger’s Cup in Toronto and after following the games each day, I was elated to find out that I would get to watch Serena Williams live on the main court facing Andrea Petkovic. It was sure to be the match to watch!
It was a beautiful evening with the sun setting as the 7pm game was about to commence. Of course for the occasion, you have to fit the part, so I opted for my new white Lacoste polo and paired it with a simple navy blue skirt and I have to admit- I looked like I was ready to play myself.
Taking a break in between main-court matches throughout the week, the Aviva Centre venue has opened up an array of fun booths, activities and delicious eats to enjoy along with the Cynamon Family Practice Courts where you can enjoy watching more tennis! Sip a cocktail at the Bacardi Bar, indulge in decadent chocolate at Lindt and by simply downloading the Rogers Cup app, you have access to up-to-the-minute information on everything taking place on the courts and around the venue. ‘
Our favourite stop on the grounds happens to be the National Bank booth which is set up with interactive games and giveaways to take part in including their #CrazyforTennis Super fan contest happening on social media. To learn more about the contest and details, visit the National Bank Facebook page here.
The National Bank booth is also an area where people can dropped off used tennis balls to receive discounts for new balls to promote their On The Ball program. For those unfamiliar with the program, they recover used tennis balls and transform them into chair slippers to create better learning conditions for children. By distributing tennis balls to schools and school boards in Quebec and Ontario, the balls are tansformed into chair slippers which reduces the distracting noise produced by chairs and increases student concentration. In 2013 alone, 185,000 tennis balls were collected for 143 schools across six school boards. More than one million tennis balls have been collected to date and we hope you join in on the program and do your share to help children in need!
Roger’s Cup is still taking place until August 16. You can pick up your tickets online here and enjoy watching some of the world’s top females rock the courts!
