Second Cup in Toronto Gets a Makeover

In December, Second Cup unveiled its café of the future in the heart of Toronto at the corner of King and John street and it’s just so darn pretty. After visiting the newly designed store several times to escape the Toronto winter chill, we found it to be one of our newest favourite hangout spots.

The moment you enter the new store concept, you are immediately greeted by beautiful decor and a very warm and inviting space. Not to mention that there are photo ops everywhere – we wouldn’t be girls if we didn’t mention that! The new decor revolves around the company’s brand pillars of superior quality, optimism, collaboration, creativity and community, and focuses on the individual customer experience. Forget what you used to remember about Second Cup, the new café’s youthful look and feel exudes comfort through a neutral palette featuring natural materials, creating a space that you won’t want to leave.

If it isn’t just about the ‘look’ for you, there are loads of new features that make the experience at Second Cup that much better, including:

  • Artistic and creative cups – Second Cup Coffee Co. collaborated with Canadian artists to design cups representing their interpretations of Second Cup Coffee Co.’s core values. The first series of three cups feature:  “Optimism” by Matt Andres from British Columbia; “Creativity” by Adrian Forrow from Ontario; and “Collaboration” by Zela Lobb from Quebec.
  • Expanded portfolio of the world’s finest coffees including Ethiopia YirgZ and Finca La Soledad from Guatemala.
  • New, delicious baked goods hand-crafted in local bakeries.  The focus will be on classic tastes with contemporary twists.
  • Healthy Granola and Hearty Oatmeal bar.
  • Milk Bar where dairy options are “on tap” in a fun custom design.
  • Multiple seating options to address needs of customers, whether they’re looking for a private area to work, a table for visiting with friends, or a communal experience at the Slow Bar.
  • Built-into-the-counter, wireless charging pads for customers to quickly charge electronic devices while enjoying the café.
  • A custom music program created specifically to reflect the new brand, featuring predominantly Canadian content including independent and up-and-coming talent.
  • Community wall mural, created by local artists, that reflects and celebrates the neighbourhood.
