Sunkist Grapefruit Sugar Scrub DIY
I have to say, I don’t usually get the “winter blues”, but this year, I am really feeling it. It’s been so incredibly gloomy in Toronto as of late, so I have no doubt that the weather is what’s been affecting my mood.
While I am currently on the search for a warm beach getaway, I recently got a break from the gloominess that is Toronto when Sunkist asked me to join in on an evening dedicated to Citrus for the Senses!
I was already familiar with the benefits of citrus fruits, but there was so much that I learned over the course of the evening. Not only do citrus fruits provide Vitamin C, but I love how Sunkist citrus can reduce stress, help with weight loss and promote heart health. I bet you didn’t know that simply peeling oranges, it can raise your dopamine levels! Well, I didn’t!
I had the opportunity at the event to learn fun recipes that are made using Sunkist fruits like the countless cocktails such as the Mother Meyer Cocktail, an All Natural Air Freshner using a slow cooker, and my favourite, the grapefruit scrub. Designed to revitalize your skin, I knew I had to make the recipe as soon as I got home!
It’s an easy recipe, but I love how it makes my skin feel during the cold winter months when I need some TLC the most! Follow the recipe below and give your skin some Vitamin C while we wait for the weather to catch up!
Grapefruit Sugar Scrub
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup of organic sugar,
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed Sunkist® grapefruit juice,
- ¼ cup grapeseed oil,
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 cup of not refined coconut oil
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Apply to your hands by dipping a sliced grapefruit in the grapefruit sugar mixture. In addition to the massaging skin benefits, the grapefruit will also work to brighten nails. Follow the treatment with a luke-warm soaked wash cloth.
