Monti

Monti is quickly becoming recognized as Rome’s coolest quarter. It’s only a short distance from the Colosseum, making it easy for visitors to the city to tick off two must-see attractions at one time. Even though back in the day, Monti was a very undesirable neighbourhood teeming with prostitutes and criminals, these days, it is the place to be for young, arty types. Monti is maze of cobbled streets studded with amazing architecture, funky boutique shops and ultra cool bars and restaurants. During the day, spend time browsing and buying clothes at the Monti vintage clothes market. In the afternoon grab a slice of pizza and a glass of prosecco at Antico Forno ai Serpenti and enjoy a spot of people watching. In the evening, get glammed up and enjoy a few drinks at Casa Clementina, a hip hangout inspired by 1960s interior design. Alternatively, head to the main plaza with a few drinks and chat up some of the locals.

Trastevere

Trastevere hosts the most electrifying nightlife scene in Rome. The area is full of traditional trattorias, bars and nightclubs that, at the weekend, are bursting at the seams with tourists and Romans alike. Whatever your nightlife preferences, you’ll find something that fits the bill in Trastevere. Grab cheap cocktails in Mr Brown before heading to Akab Club to dance to some electronic or live music. However, Trastevere is not exclusively known for its lively nightlife. The medieval district is also the setting for a vibrant food market which is well worth going to. If you crave a bit of exercise after all the eating and drinking, head up the Gianicolo hill. The 20-minute climb is well worth it for the most stunning views of the city at the top.

San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is a magnet for students and creative types. It is also very popular with young travellers. The quarter is full of street art and graffiti giving it a gritty and bohemian vibe. The main streets are busy with cafes, bars and restaurants. There are plenty of unique stores in this area selling second-hand clothes and ornaments. Enjoy a cabaret or burlesque show in the evening or dance the night away at the lively Micca Club. If you are interested in staying in San Lorenzo, you may wish to look for accommodation in this area of Rome with Housetrip.

So, what could be more exciting than partying against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world? We hope that we have persuaded you and your girlfriends to head to Rome for your next trip!
