Top 3 Places to Visit in Carolina 

It is not an insult to South Carolina to say that it isn’t the first place people think of when you talk about US tourist destinations. Simply put, there is a lot of America, and when you aren’t based there you do need to pick and choose your destinations. When people talk about the USA, they usually talk about New York, LA or Miami. And that’s really quite a shame. There is a lot more to America, and it’s worth seeing.

As long as you don’t mind a bit of sun – and most of us don’t, let’s face it – then South Carolina is rich in destinations for a wide range of holidays and it has become a very popular spot over the last few years (it really is absolutely Instagram-worthy). The heat is liable to get in the hundreds in the summer, and can even get as high as the mid-80s in winter. If that sounds like the kind of place you could get along with, wait until you hear about some of the attractions.

Kiawah Island

Nationally, and internationally, it’s noted as a golfing resort. It hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup, when America won the trophy back from Europe after two consecutive losses. However, there’s more to Kiawah, with a gorgeous gated beach for sunbathing and swimming. There is the famed Beachwalker Park, a wonderful setting from which to see the local wildlife. And, as with all parts of the world that attract golfers, there are also excellent restaurants and hotels.

Charleston

You’ll often hear it said that a place marches to the beat of its own drum. In Charleston, it’s less a march than a dance, and it is one that has become globally known. Charleston, S.C. – from which the dance gets its name – is one of those offbeat places.

There are houses here from before the Civil War, and they have retained the pastel beauty of that time. You can take a trip by horse-drawn carriage or visit some of the wartime sites that are dotted around. But always come back to the city itself at night – entertainment and great food are in ready supply.

Myrtle Beach

One of America’s most popular seaside destinations, and with good reason. People come from far and wide and check out Myrtle Beach vacation rentals for its Fourth of July celebrations among other things. It’s the ideal place for anyone who wants to spend the day sunbathing and shopping. In the evening, strolls along the boardwalk and through the town are a great way to spend some time.

Myrtle Beach’s coastal scenery makes it a place well worth spending a while in. In addition to that, there are nearly two thousand restaurants and plentiful entertainment options. Between the Carolina Opry, Broadway at the Beach and the Pirates’ Voyage, there’s enough here to keep everyone occupied.

So it is possible that South Carolina isn’t first on your list of places to see and visit in the US, but there is plenty to see and do here, and the opportunity to see some of America’s finest sites among some of its friendliest people.
