Travelcuts Film Fest 2016 Winner

They always say that a vacation always leads to the next one. Well, lately, I’m finding vacation inspiration from amazing travel videos all thanks to Travelcuts. If you’ve been following the blog and social for the last few months, you would have seen the Travelcuts Film Fest return for a second year and again, I took part and had the opportunity of helping choose this years winner.

Well, if you haven’t already hear, Benoit LaLande took home the winning prize, and $5,000 in travel. This guy is only 19, but what a powerful and inspiring video he created! Filming 17 days around Indonesia, with people feeding monkeys and exploring breathtaking vistas, LaLande’s video “Sama Sama” perfectly captured the essence of what a life changing travel experience is supposed to look like.

After 12 days and thousands of votes which I got to view, Canada officially crowned Benoit LaLande of Burlington as this year’s travelcuts FilmFest winner, while Indonesia , submitted by Tyler Cave from Victoria, BC and Popsicle Sagas submitted by Dominic Faucher, from Cold Lake, Alberta were the two runners up.

“Travelling is a rite of passage, especially for young travellers looking to explore the world,” said Luisa Pannozzi, Marketing Director, Merit Travel Group, parent company of travelcuts. “The aim of the FilmFest is to inspire adventure-seeking Canadians to travel by seeing some the possibilities that await them around the globe through the eyes of fellow travellers.”

It was a great experience joining Travelcuts for a second year and helping chose this years Travelcuts Film Fest winner! I am beyond inspired for my next destination and I hope you are too! Stay tuned for the next Film Fest and don’t forget to save your footage – you just may be the next winner!
