What To Pack For A Weekend Beach Getaway
I don’t usually do a summary of what i wore on trips and vacations and what to pack, etc, but because I felt like I was in a new outfit every hour in Miami, I felt compelled to put this post together.
Nothing of what I wore was particularly extravagant or super “out there” but I have to admit that I really loved what I packed for my Miami trip and I have to admit that I felt like I really packed fittingly with just a carry on. I actually wore a lot of what I brought with me and some of these pieces were ones that still had tags on them, so I am happy that I officially got some wear out of them.
Of course, I was only in Miami for a weekend, but I didn’t want to miss any opportunity to enjoy a beautiful vacation in some adorable looks! From dresses, rompers, to short shorts, accessories galore, and my trusty straw hats, scroll below to see what key pieces I feel every gal needs when taking a quick weekend beach getaway in order to look put together!
Your Best Swimsuit(s)
Of course, when you are heading to a weekend beach getaway, it’s obvious that swimsuits are an essential. Not just any swimsuit though, but rather your absolute favourites. On my Miami trip I brought along a few suits from Swimco and Adore Me since I knew that they were both comfortable and I felt sexy in them. Though I opted for a few more one-pieces than bikinis this time around, I was so happy that I had the perfect suits that allowed me to frolic in the waves but also wear underneath a pair of cut-off shorts when enjoying some lunch right outside the hotel.
There are so many ways to help you chose the suit that’s right for you, but I promise to share those tips in a separate post soon!
Your Favourite Denim
Regardless of where and when you travel, denim is so helpful to have around. For a quick weekend beach getaway you will be surprised at how much wear you get out of a pair of denim cut off shorts or even a denim dress. Also, don’t forget that when all else fails, denim goes with EVERYTHING!
Straw Hat
While I may love a stylish straw hat, I also think that protecting your face from UV Rays is just as important, so a great hat is definitely on this list. Not to mention I burned my forehead last year while in the ocean, so ever since then, I am in a hat 12/7 while on vacation. I picked up my straw boater hat at Lack of Colors and I am obsessed. Not only does it shield me from the sun, it also goes with everything and it just looks so darn cute!
Accessories Galore
When packing light, accessories will go a long way.
Sunglasses, jewellery, scarves and hats are the perfect way to transform any look, so while you may opt for classic and simple garments so you can mix and match your outfits, you can use all of your accessories to really make your look standout!
A Good Romper (or Two)
Who doesn’t love a cute romper? On my recent trip, I packed two rompers and both were great additions to my weekend wardrobe. Both comfortable for an afternoon bike ride and also a fun night out, you really can’t go wrong with packing a this essential. They are also a great option to pack instead of countless dresses, especially when you don’t know your exact plans and you want to feel comfortable and free no matter where the weekend takes you!
Straw Bag (Beach Bag)
I have been obsessed with adorable straw bags lately, and I am so happy that I brought mine along with me on my recent trip to Miami. I happened to use my beach bag as my “purse” while on the plane, and it was the smartest thing ever. For those busy days going from the beach, to lunch, then back to the beach and to the pool, it was the perfect accessory to help me lug my change of clothes around, but still looking stylish and oh-so-beachy!
Versatile Dresses
When packing light, I am always looking for items that I can wear different ways to switch things up. You guys know how much I loved my white crochet GAP dress and it was great to have around because I had the opportunity to wear it with slides for brunch but then accessorize with gold jewellery and high heels for a night out.
It’s also clever to pack lightweight dresses in fun prints so you can switch up your look and the dress takes up very little room in your luggage! A good maxi dress is also essential for both a day and night look.
Appropriate Footwear
I have to admit that typically, packing footwear is my biggest struggle, however I definitely have my essentials that I think really does the trick when travelling for just a weekend. A great slide sandal, an espadrille and a sneaker or flat are all perfect options for any weekend plans. Of course, depending on what your goal is for the trip, your footwear selection will change. If you are looking to relax with minimal walking/touring, go for an easy sandal, but if you are looking to explore and do as much as possible, be sure to bring along comfortable shoes so they won’t slow you down. Lastly, if you want to get fancy and dress up, go for heels that are sassy but you know will last you all night!
