Why A Getaway Is Good For the Soul 

As much as I am officially counting down to spring’s comeback, I am well aware that winter is far from over, so the only way to help me get through these last few months of winter, snow and gloomy weather is to well, get away from it! I never really understood how much travelling can really do for the soul but over the last few years, I’ve come to appreciate taking the time away from home to recharge, regroup and find all new inspiration and motivation for work and life!

Just at the beginning of February, I was given the opportunity to travel to beautiful Mexico with Sunwing Vacations. It really couldn’t have come at a better time since the weather in Toronto was at an all time freezing and well, I was in desperate need of a getaway. Not only are the grounds absolutely breathtaking and dreamy, but there is really something special about a fresh new property that makes for the perfect all-inclusive destination. During our tour of the property, it was clear that every inch of the resort is instagram-worthy, so naturally, I took the opportunity to capture it all! I mean, it didn’t actually happen if no pictures were taken, right?

While touring the gorgeous grounds, I immediately felt re-energized and ready to not only relax, but get inspired, which is why I’m a firm believer that a getaway (no matter big or small) is incredibly beneficial and good for the soul. Here’s how:

You Feel Like Royalty 

Whether you are spending your getaway alone, as a couple or as a family, you want to feel like royalty with anything and everything at your fingertips. The Riu Dunamar is host to Riu’s exclusive 24-hour All-Inclusive service, so you can relax and enjoy all of their luxury amenities like free WiFi, a minibar in each room fully stocked with your favourite drinks and many others so you can leave your worries (and your to-do lists) at home!

Spa Time Is The Best Time

Nothing says relaxation to help you feel amazing quite like a sweet spa experience! The Hotel Riu Dunamar is ideal for such a situation with their Renova Spa, which allows for anything from a fresh hairstyle or manicure at their salon to a soothing massage or facial. It’s as easy as scheduling an appointment with the front desk and you are on your way to relaxation with the help of their complimentary sauna and hydromassage bath.

Life’s a Beach 

If I’m not at the pools, then the beach is where you can find me! Not only was I able to catch a sunrise or two during my stay, but I also captured a number of photos on the beach and it was absolutely breathtaking! I’m a firm believer that if you are looking to really unwind, relax and find your centre, then the beach will definitely inspire you to get there. The white-sand beach with turquoise waters is just steps away from Riu Dunumar grounds and offers stunning views as well as more of an intimate experience as the area is still developing, so only those at Riu Dunumar have access to this beach. It was serene and picturesque!

And when in doubt, the hotel’s five outdoor swimming pools was enough to keep me occupied while in the sun! With two of the pools including a swim-up bar with its beautiful beach views along with their massive Splash Water World, I had everything I needed to keep me perfectly occupied and happy!

Everything At Your Fingertips

Of course, this goes for all All-Inclusive resorts, but Riu’ properties are always luxurious, so you have just about everything you need at arms length. The only way you can really relax and re-energize on vacation is to do it All-Inclusive, so with Riu’s 6 different bars, 5 restaurants including an assortment of international cuisines from Asian to Italian and the day and night entertainment, there won’t be a shortage of fun in the Mexico sun!

With it being my first catamaran excursion ever, I can assure you guys that it won’t be my last, since it was a beautiful morning spent enjoying a delicious lunch on the boat and visiting the beautiful Isla Mujeres for a quick tour!
