Wine of the Week: Bottega Prosecco

It’s the time of year for poppin’ bottles!

Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza (or Festivus), there is almost always a moment that deserves some sparkling wine. Come to think of it, we think there is never an inappropriate time for bubbly. With the holiday season being as expensive as it, it would be nice to know that there is a dependable, fairly inexpensive yet delicious bottles of sparkling wine available to us Girls of TO. Some are too sweet, others too dry but personally, I find that Bottega Vino dei Poeti Prosecco DOC always hits the spot.

This Prosecco has fine bubbles that don’t go up your nose when you try to take a dignified ‘post-cheers’ sip. Smelling slightly of minerality alongside citrus and honeysuckle, these delicious citrus notes are confirmed on the palette. Pale in colour, this dry sparkling wine also tastes of apples and pears with a refreshing finish and a nice touch of acidity.

Bottega Prosecco is a light bubbly so it works will as both a pre meal drink or with dinner (or in the bath tub on a Monday if that suits you). Coming in under $15, this is a good wine to stock up on, always ready for an impromptu holiday pop in (perhaps from the in laws or even better, the girls!), a ‘just because’ date night or as a last minute hostess gift on the way to a holiday party. (Note: There is almost always one in the chilled section of the LCBO)

This is definitely a go-to sparkling wine for me and I highly recommend starting December with this approachable, appetizing and affordable pop!

Bottega Vino dei Poeti Prosecco DOC is available at the LCBO for $13.95
