Raised on an Albertan farm and currently residing in the vibrant city Montréal Quebec, Brit Wacher lives her design philosophy by traversing boundaries. Over the years she has acquired international exposure from Europe and Asia and continues to draw inspiration from fantasy and the surrounding core conflicts of the world and this season that is no different.
This Friday, October 24th, Brit Wacher returns to World Mastercard Fashion Week after making an international mark following last seasons show and we are excited to give you a little sneak peek before the big day!
The young Canadian designer propels beyond the atmosphere, through time and space for her Spring/Summer 2015 collection as she journeys to the moon and back. As shown in the mood board below, this collection is based upon topics of astrobiology, involving ideas about life thriving on different elements, far away universes, and new creatures. The garments become descriptions of the characters you’ll meet, the surface of the planets, and new colour breaking through. “SS15 is the new beginning of breaking the darkness,” Brit remarks.
Sowing On their Moon continues Brit’s propensity to capture duality into a ready-to-wear collection. A continuation of asymmetrical dresses, and skirts can be expected with new innovations in culottes, mailotts and “Shields” this season. Fabrics include leather, chiffon, and exotic Thai silk in colouring intended to create a glow effect amongst the predominant black, white and slate gray. Capturing elements from a future unknown, the collection is both bold and timeless.
Brit Wacher will be available at specialty boutiques across Canada and on BritWacher.com. Prices range from $200 (knits) to $2000 (Dresses).
Stay tuned this Friday on the Girls of T.O Instagram as we post runway looks live from the front row and don’t forget to enter to win a Fall knit here from Brit Wacher!
